Age Friendly Community

What is Age-Friendly Candle Lake?

  • An age-friendly community in Saskatchewan is one that adapts its structures, services, and social environments to support healthy, active, and independent aging. Led by the Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism (SSM), these communities prioritize accessible transportation, safe housing, well-lit infrastructure, and social inclusion for seniors.
  • Our goal is to make our community a better, healthier and safer places for our residents to live and thrive - something our whole community can be proud of!

What does an “age-friendly” community look like?

  • Everyday life is easier and better for everyone, whether that is getting around town, staying socially connected, finding the right support, or simply enjoying our outdoor spaces.
  • It is about helping people stay in their homes longer, remain independent, and feel part of the community.

Did you know? Much of this work is already underway!

  • From securing funding to support volunteer services, to improving transportation ideas, to growing community connections, there is real momentum building.
  • Our Age Friendly Community is a volunteer group that meets once a month and is focused on creating a safe and vibrant community for all ages, as well as building strong community connections that lead to opportunities for intergenerational interaction and collaboration.
