The Resort Village of Candle Lake Municipal Election will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024. This webpage provides information on who can run in the election, nomination timelines, and details on who can vote and how. This page will be updated as there is new information to share.
- Electing Mayor and 4 Councillors: Starting May 15, 2024, candidates can pick up the Nomination Paper, Candidates Acceptance, Municipal Public Disclosure Statement at the Village office and must submit a Criminal Record Check.
- Call for Nominations:Starting Friday, June 7, 2024, nominations will be accepted at the Village Office during business hours.
- Closing of Nominations: Must be received on or before Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Village Office. (The Village office will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on June 22nd for any last-day nomination submissions.)
- Advance Poll: Friday, July 19, 2024 and Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 10 am to 3 pm at the Community Hall.
- Election Day: Saturday July 27, 2024 from 9 am to 8 pm at the Community Hall.
- Candidate Eligibility: As per The Local Government Elections Act, 2015:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old on election day.
- Candidates must not be disqualified by any Act.
- Candidates must be Canadian citizens upon submitting the nomination paper.
- For resort village elections in Saskatchewan:
- Candidates must have resided in the resort village or on its land for at least three consecutive months prior to submitting the nomination paper.
- Alternatively, candidates may qualify if they are the assessed person for property within the resort village for at least three consecutive months prior to nomination, or they are the spouse of such a person.
- Voter Eligibility: As per The Local Government Elections Act, 2015:
- Eligible voters must be Canadian citizens.
- Eligible voters must be at least 18 years old.
- For resort village elections:
- Eligible voters must have resided in the resort village or its land for at least three consecutive months preceding the election day.
- Alternatively, eligible voters may qualify if they are the assessed person for property within the resort village for at least three consecutive months prior to election day, or they are the spouse of such a person.
- Voter Identification: As per The Local Government Regulations, 2015 Section 14 Appendix D:
- There will be no voters list; instead, voters must provide identification and proof of residency.
- Acceptable forms of identification include birth certificates, driver’s licenses, passports, and health cards.
- Acceptable property verification includes assessment notices, tax notices, power bills, energy bills, etc.
- Mail-in Ballots: Residents can request a mail-in ballot kit, including an Application & Declaration, from the Village office or by filling out and submitting the request form available below. (Mail-In Ballot Information)

- Great option for individuals over 65, those with health issues, or those unable to vote in person.
- Once nominations close, ballots will be printed and a kit will be sent with instructions for mailing back.
- Mail-in submissions must be received at the Village office before election day.
